Breadline Group is a social service agency established in 1975 and run solely by volunteers with no paid staff. It started because we share a concern for the welfare of the old and needy in Singapore, and want to channel our effort towards alleviating their plight.

We are registered under the Societies and Charities Act and a member of the National Council of Social Service.

We Hear You...

Mdm T is a single mother with 3 teenaged children. One child has impaired motor skills and is studying in Polytechnic. 2 of the children have severe spastic cerebral palsy and are not able to care for themselves. Client needs 2 helpers to care for them as she works 2 jobs 14 hours a day. Even so what she earns is insufficient for the family's upkeep. A charitable foundation helps with $500 per month. A Breadline volunteer visits the family at least once a month to give additional financial assistance, lend a sympathetic ear and help in any other way possible.

Walking The Journey...

Mr. C has restrictive lung disease and is on long term oxygen therapy. He consumes 1 packet of nutritional supplement per day. He requires wheelchair when going out. Wife is sole caregiver. Son is in National Service. Has ad-hoc emotional and limited financial support from his siblings. Wife is not a Singapore citizen. Getting $400 Eldershield and CPF early payout of $570. Mr. C and wife dependant on the $970 received monthly which is insufficient. Son supported himself with his NS pay. Breadline assists with monthly financial help.

The desire to help those who are vulnerable is often the driving force of our volunteers. Breadline recognizes the needs of the vulnerables and our dedicated volunteers assisted in various ways to mitigate their plight. We seek to empower our clients to lead an independent and fufilling lives. Our volunteer’s passion and willingness to listen helps provide our clients with a level of comfort and security hence making them feel they have better control of their challenging circumstances. Besides, Breadline also provide financial support in the most troubling of times which can be invaluable to their overall well-being. There is no greater reward than working from our hearts and making an incredible difference in their lives.
